As you are aware, the scope of work for this project required the general contractor to remove tile from 88 elevated balcony slabs. To accomplish this task the hurricane shutters, many of which were attached through the tile, had to be addressed. As part of our service to the association, three shutter companies were asked to review the existing shutter installations along with the goals of the renovation project and to provide recommendations for the least disruptive and most economical means of working around the shutters to get the tile off the decks. Since living in Florida my wife and I have seen many hurricanes strike various parts of the state with disastrous results and always felt a sense of relief when near misses passed by Jacksonville Beach. We decided to have hurricane shutters installed on our home this summer. After receiving four quotes from hurricane shutter companies, we contracted Custom Storm Shutters, owner Steve LoPresti, to do the fabrication and installation.

They were competitive with the other three, but the deciding factor was Steve’s attention to detail, engineering and general contractor expertise. Steve took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns. He explained the construction and installation process to our satisfaction, handled all the necessary permits, scheduled the city inspector and personally followed up at the completion of the project. No type of window or door presented any problem for Steve and his crew.

We are very pleased with the installation of the bi-fold shutters which enclose the entire lanai and front porch areas, allowing us to leave our patio furniture in place during a storm. The bi-fold shutters also saved us from labor-intensive installation of all windows and doors. The nesting of the shutters allowed easy storage. Each window and shutter is marked for ease of installation.

The crew who did the installation was very professional, polite, considerate and hard working. They cleaned up at the end of each day and at the end of the work. Each installation and operation was demonstrated to us at the completion of the work. They started and completed the project on the scheduled dates.

We are very happy with the installation and operation of all of our hurricane shutters, and would highly recommend Custom Storm Shutters Direct Inc. to our friends and family when considering the installation of storm/hurricane shutters.
